See reunion 2009 to order tickets

OK Latest news is;
Subject: Final Arrangements for Glebe Weekend > Hi Everyone.
> Looks like the final pieces are now in place and the following is what we
> have planned for the 18th.

> I will be collecting the keys to Gnosall Memorial Village Hall at about 9.30am.
I will then call to Stephen Pitt's house to collect the PA system and this will be taken to the hall
and set up basically ready for any sound checks.
The Hog Roast Guys will get there about lunchtime and start cooking ready for the evening do.
Any help with setting up the PA system would be gratefully received.
And any help setting out the room, likewise.

If any Glebe members want to bring any memorabilia we can set a table up for it.

The Glebe Re-Union proper will start at about 12.00ish at the Royal Oak and will continue throughout the afternoon.
Can I please suggest that you park on the Village Hall car park and walk the 200 yards to the Royal Oak.(The car park of the Oak is pretty small.)
I expect, as last time, that this will go on for most of the afternoon, developing into a tune/song session.
The room is pretty cosy, but we can use the upstairs if we run out of space.
If anyone wants to put a side up, you are welcome to dance in the car park of the Royal Oak.
Sandwiches etc will be provided for this afternoon session, but if anyone wants to use the hall,
it will be open all afternoon and you can use it for practice Morris / Clogging / Tunes etc or just have a break from the Oak.
Tea /Coffee / sustenance will be provided.

If anyone wants to get a breath of fresh air or have a break, let me know
and I can supply you with a couple of walking routes that are fairly gentle and can give some pleasing views of the local countryside.
Whilst you are all enjoying yourselves, some poor soul will be preparing the vegetarian foods
that will accompany the Hog Roast for later in the evening.
Directions.
Gnosall is a largish village about 6 miles West of Stafford on the A518.
> If you are coming from Stafford, it is a straight road and the Hall is
> situated on the left just before you enter the main part of the village
> before the sharp right hand bend by Bank Top Garage. If you are coming
> from the East, then follow the road right through the village, turn right
> at the only mini-island and the hall is situated at the top of the hill on
> the right. There is a well stocked 'Co-Op' and a good off licence.
You can still order 4pint/8pnt carry kegs for filling up at the Oak
The only cash point is within the Co-Op and it does charge for withdrawals.

Evening Ceilidh
I am hoping to start this at about 7.30 if we can drag enough band members out of the pub in time.

The Band will be led by Peter and Christina Wallis, with various guest musicians throughout the night,
and Martin Thompson will be the main caller for the evening.
I am hoping that all band members will get a chance to have a break and socialise a little,
there should be enough 'standbys' to be able to allow the music to continue throughout the night
and still give everyone a break.

There will be a few 'interludes' to allow for a couple of song / tune and dance sets,
and the food will be ready about 9.00ish.
When the hog is roasted, they will be serving it most of the evening and there will be plenty of it,
so there is no need to form a big queue, just get yours when you are ready!
Also, just because you are a carnivore does not mean the Veggie option is out of bounds, but please allow the vegetarians first bite!
There will be a half time raffle, a few people have very generously
donated prizes, but could do with a couple more if you are feeling generous.

As I write this we are still about thirty tickets short of our 'break even' point,
so if you could persuade anyone else to come along that would be great, don't forget that you can get your tickets on line at;
http://www.spittalbrookfolk.org.uk/glebe/reunion9.htm

Please bring your own favorite tipple and something to drink it out of and
if you could clear your own table at the end of the night that would be very helpful.
> Steve Pitt will have some half Gallon plastic re-useable flagons for sale (and some gallon ones)
that can be filled up in the Royal Oak if you want to drink 'Proper' beer during the ceilidh
if you want to buy one, drop him an email - SvPitt@aol.com

We have to finish at 12.00 midnight. A little help putting the tables and chairs away would be good!

A few guys will be sleeping in the hall overnight. You are going to be our 'security guards' for the PA system etc.
Please be sensible and discreet, keep the curtains closed and the lights and the noise down.

Please also be aware that the hall is strictly non-smoking.

Sunday 19th.
I will be spending most of the morning clearing up from the previous night, so again, any help here would be welcome.

Abbots Bromley.
For those who don't know it, Abbots Bromley is a small village that lies halfway between Rugeley and Uttoxeter.
If you need directions let me know.
The Church in the village contains the famous Abbots Bromley Horns which are used once a year in September for the Abbots Bromley Horn Dance.

The village does NOT have any shops garages or cash point machines, but is well supplied with pubs!

The idea is to get to the Goats Head for about 12 O'clock and start dancing.
There should be a lot of dancers there as we have the remnants of the Glebe,
Rynkild Rabble have kindly stepped in as our guest side,
Helen is bringing 'Ragged and Old' and we hope that the Wyre Forest lot will be able to give us a display too!
As the dancing descends into chaos, there will be a song and tune session in the bar of the Goats Head.

Nigel has provided the following information about the Goats Head,
if you need to eat, please book yourself something - there is no-where else to buy food in Abbots Bromley (Apart from the other pubs),
so bring your own or book a meal!

That's about it really. If you have any queries please just email me or give me a call.
